Community Action Missions

 

July and August CAMps

We are planning for the July and August Local Mission Opportunities now. Because of having to rent vans, we will need to know 2 weeks prior to the CAMps, if you will be joining us. Please check your calendars and let Donna know before the deadline if you plan to join us.

Remember participants must be out of 6th grade in order to join us on their own. If a parent attends, younger youth may join us at some events. It will depend on where we volunteer on the age limit. By the way, we will be helping several non-profit agencies for the first time this summer. We max the CAMps out at 30 participants, so get your name on the list early, if you want to join us. For the new people, because they are local CAMps, we have some flexibility and can work around participant's work and other scheduled events. A new parent permission form must be on file for everyone. It must be notarized, and will be good for a whole year, May 2010- May 2011. These are due the Monday before CAMp starts. If you are over 18, you will need to fill out an adult volunteer form. For security purposes, I will run a background check on participants over the age of 18. Click here for forms

CAMp dates and deadlines:

  • July 14-17 - deadline to sign-up is June 30 Host Church McFarlin Methodist, Norman

  • Aug. 11-14 - deadline to sign-up is July 28 Host Church: St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Norman

Local Summer Mission Camps are FREE, however, if you would like to help with the expenses, a suggested tax deductible donation of $50.00 would be appreciated. Checks may be made out to CAM


June CAMp a Success!

WOW, the CAMps are off to a great start. We maxed the first CAM CAMp out. We accomplished our goals, with amazing attitudes, even though it was hot and some of the work was difficult. We got to enjoy a lot of fun things like the barn swing, horse back riding, canoe racing (even though some of us had a tough time keeping the canoe up-right- I won't mention names!), and the great BIG water slide!

Pastor Dean & Lisa are very grateful for all the work CAM Kids did in preparing the place for their children's camps. They are expecting around 100 elementary age kids at this first one. Last year, they had over 100 kids accept the Lord and over 50 rededicate their life, during the four camps. We are expecting great things again this year. All this hard work will make a path for many youngsters to hear the Gospel in the next 4-5 weeks. Know that your labor was not in vain! Thanks again to everyone that was willing to give up part of their first week of summer break to help make a difference in peoples lives.


Spring and Summer Events

The following are volunteer dates: please let Donna know ASAP if you plan to join us.

April 10 - Deadline to sign-up is April 5th

Location: Camp David in Seminole, We will be painting fences. They rescue horses and then integrate them into a program set up to help neglected and abused children. They have seen some great results over the years.

May 1 - Deadline to sign up is April 26th

Location: Metro Library - stuffing envelopes for the summer program- They have a special permission form that will need to be signed by everyone!

Remember participants must be in 6th grade or older. We welcome parents. For both the April and May events, younger children may join us as long as parents stay with them

Free Local Summer Mission Opportunity Camp dates:

  • June 2-5, Deadline May 26 - Corner Stone Kids Ranch in Ada.
  • July 14-17, Deadline July 7 - Norman - host church TBD
  • August 11-14, Deadline Aug. 4 - Norman - host church TBD

New parent permission forms will be required for the CAMps. They will be available on line the first of May.

Participants MUST be out of 6TH grade to join us for the CAMps.
